Born in Athens, Greece, Yannis Tsiakos’ foray in to the hospitality industry began after completing his military duties. He attended culinary school at Le Monde and then set off to train at the Bomo Palmariva Beach Hotel in Eretria, Greece followed by the Cyprus Amathous Hotel, both of which are among the world’s leading hotels. Later, he began honing his skills in professional restaurant kitchens throughout Greece including Athiri, 48 Restaurant, Urban, Up North, and Mini M. In 2010, Yannis opened his own restaurant, Kourdistiri, with his best friend and partner. He is also at the helm of Fournos Theophilos in New York City along with his co-Executive Chef, Dionisis Liakopoulos.
